Coconut Water

What is Coconut Water?

Coconut Water is not the same as Coconut Milk. Coconut water is the liquid inside a coconut. It develops naturally inside the coconut. Coconut water is also sometimes referred to as Coconut Juice and both names mean the same thing - (the fresh liquid from the coconut). Coconut Water looks like clear water with a slight cloudy appearance. The best coconut water should be from young green coconuts, as this is when the liquid inside the coconut is most nutritious.

Coconut Water has many health benefits.

The ingredients in fresh Coconut water are 100% natural with no preservatives, artificial colours, additives, sugars or chemicals. It is safe for everyone to consume!

Coconut water is hypoallergenic which simply means that people who have food allergies can usually consume coconut without fear.

Fun Fact: Mothers in the Islands of the South pacific are encouraged to drink plenty of coconut water to ensure that their breast milk is rich and plentiful so that their baby grows strong and healthy. Often infants are given both mother's milk and coconut water. If a mother cannot nurse or if the infant has digestive problems, it is given coconut water.

Coconut Milk is a manufactured product made from the coconut meat (the white flesh of the coconut). It is prepared by mixing water with grated coconut meat, squeezing and extracting the pulp, leaving only the liquid. Coconut milk looks like cow's milk (white in colour). You can use coconut milk as a replacement for regular cow's milk in a variety of beverages and dishes.
